Watch out, world, here comes Nala, a beautiful Golden Retriever mix, almost 3 years old. When she is in the house, she is a perfect lady, but once outside, her wild side comes out. She is high energy, and loves to run, explore, and play with other dogs, and when that's all over, she will come inside, and be as quiet as a mouse......a very tired mouse. Exercise has been the key to keeping her well-behaved. Her body style reflects her personality, in that she is lean, because of her high metabolism. We've doubled her feedings, in hopes of adding a few pounds. She would love to find a furever home with a jogger and/or a similar aged playmate dog, to continue to burn off all that energy and keep her being a well-behaved lady. Originally, my Michelin-man snow suit would spook her, and she would bark at me, even though when I look the scariest (i.e., when I get out of bed in the morning), she would give me kisses. Dominant human males may not have been her best friend earlier in her life, as she sometimes flinches when I put her leash on. She's only been with us for a week, and is adjusting well. We've had no issues with her behavior with us, or any of the resident dogs,..... although our resident 4-year-old Golden, who has a nine-month-old puppy trapped inside his body, has met his match for expendable energy.

Here is some other information about Nala that may interest you: She is cat-friendly and kid-friendly and does not require a fence. She comes to her name, walks well on a leash, plays ball by herself, and plays well with other dogs. She frequently crosses her front paws when laying down and loves to give kisses. She sits for treats and takes them gently with her mouth. She has a quiet and sensitive personality. Her fur is thin and super soft; we don't think she is shaven, but it is hard to say for sure -- her ears and tail have long fur and torso has short fur. She always wants to be in the same room as you, but keeps to herself, unless you ask for attention, then she is right there. She is crate-trained and toilet-trained. If given enough exercise, she does not chew; if fed a high-quality dog food, she does not counter surf in the kitchen. If she is to be an only dog, she will need a family that is home a lot.
