"In memory of Sadie and Velvet"

Patch has been in RAGOM's foster care for over a year, but he is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet.  I know he's not "golden", but he sure does have a loving temperment, like a golden.  He came into RAGOM because a family relinquished him to a shelter due to a move and they could not keep him.  Patch is a beautiful black lab mix with eyes that will melt your heart and eye lashes that are the cutest thing you'll ever see.  He looks smaller for a large breed dog, which many people can appreciate.  Patch is the perfect size weighing a whopping 58 pounds--soaking wet!!  He is all up-to-date on his shots and the vet says he is in awesome health. He does have a torn ligament in his hind left leg that was never properly cared for prior to coming into RAGOM, but don't let that fool you.  His leg does not slow him down one bit.  He can climb 4 ft fences (if given the opportunity) and barrels up the stairs four at a time--always beating me to the top!  He really enjoys running free, so would do well on a farm or in a yard with a tall fence or possibly an invisible fence with professional fence training.  He does enjoy looking and chasing after small creatures in the backyard, so he needs a home with no cats.  Patch needs someone that will take him to one or two levels of obedience training so he can learn "come" to help keep him safe since he does like to run and explore.

Patch would do well with a single person or possibly a couple, without the distractions of children, that would be able to give him the attention he deserves.  In return, he will be your loyal companion.  He is an independent guy that mostly likes to hang out on his favorite chair, so he's not a needy dog always under your feet.  He enjoys playing with toys and has his favorites, both inside and outside, but toys are not necessarily his thing.  He really just wants to enjoy the outside, whether on walks/runs or just basking in the sunshine.    Patch is a people-dog, more than a dog-dog.  He LOVES people and getting pets from them, even kids.  He LOVES, LOVES, LOVES kids, but probably wouldn't want to live with them.  He will give everyone a big, honkin' kiss--whether they are ready for it or not!  His tail just starts wagging if you just look at him....thump, thump, thump!  When it comes to dogs, he can tolerate some, but really doesn't enjoy playing with them--so he would rather be an only dog.     So to recap, Patch is looking for an active, single person or couple that wants a wonderful companion and is willing to do what is necessary to keep him safe by taking him to obedience classes.  For the life of me, I can't figure out why he's been in foster care so long.  He is a wonderful dog and will be down right awesome with some training!  He is a diamond in the rough waiting for the perfect family to take him in and give him the life he deserves.  In return, he will love you to pieces.  Please contact your placement advisor if you would like to set up a meeting on Patch.
