Dear RAGOM friends,
My husband, Luke J. F., and I adopted a beautiful golden through you in January 2001--Quinn (formerly called Maverick). He was 01-001--your first adoption in 2001. You used a photo I shared in the first year of his adoption on a set of blank cards you marketed. We were so proud to have him featured then.
My husband passed away suddenly in September 2011 and now 7 months later it grieves me to report that our beloved Quinn, Earl of Oakbrook, had to be put down on May 3rd owing to a sudden neurological disorder. He would have been somewhere around 13 years old this summer, at least that is what we believe. So we were privileged to have him as our faithful companion and family member for so many wonderful years.
Quinn helped ease the grief of my husband's death, but I know he's now in Luke's loving embrace and both are looking down on me.
I've appended two photos of Quinn--one taken shortly after we adopted him and the second taken by me 5 or 6 years ago. Quinn was a gentle giant of a golden and I will be forever grateful to RAGOM for the privilege of having him grace and enrich my husband and my life for so many years. He is mourned by his canine and human friends that he made over 5 years of daily attendance at Lucky Pawz daycare in Iowa City, his family while we were working.
I am having major foot surgery tomorrow that will require several months of recovery. But once I'm back on my feet, I will start working with you to find my next golden family member.
Thank you again.
