Hello! I am so excited to introduce you to Redd. The vet thinks Redd is about 7 years old. He is a very healthy (minus one mild ear infection), 87-pound, black lab mix who was surrendered to RAGOM after spending some wonderful months with a kind Good Samaritan in a loving temporary foster home before coming to live with us in central Iowa last weekend. He flourished in the care of his former foster family, and since the pool of applicants and potential adopters was small in their area, they turned to RAGOM to help find this boy his forever family.

I literally have nothing but amazing things to say about this dog. He is kind, gentle, tolerant, and loving. He is a big sweetheart who will steal your heart the second he gives you his Golden-like "nudge". Redd lived with another dog, a cat, and even a parrot in his former foster home. He loves the kids in our neighborhood as well. He's got a great amount of energy, but is super calm and relaxed in the house. He doesn't play a ton with our young female resident, but he tolerates her exuberant energy very well.

Redd is home with free roam of our lower level (along with out resident) for 8-9 hour work days. We both work out of town and can't come home for lunch. Redd is content at home all day, sleeping the day away on our couch or floor--we use a wireless camera to watch the pups during the day, so we can confirm this to be true. He is happy to see us when we return home, and will gladly curl up and nap again if you'd like.

I wouldn't say he requires a fence, but his recall isn't the best right now so he would need to be leashed or on a tie out At all times when outside. With appropriate training, he could probably become boundary trained. He loves to be outside, and he likes walks as well. He pulls just a little bit, but not too badly; it subsides after about a block of walking.

Redd will need to be neutered and will be microchipped in the next week or two, and then he will be ready for adoption. Who can say no to this sweet face and graying chin? This boy is a gem. If interested in coming to Iowa to meet him, talk to your placement advisor. I promise you won't be disappointed!
