Hello RAGOM from "Smiley Riley"!  Riley is a gorgeous, healthy, tall, 66 pound, 4 year old purebred male Golden Retriever with a luxurious blonde coat. Everyone who has met him says how handsome he is!  Riley was sadly surrendered by his original family due to unavoidable family changes that are requiring them to move into housing that does not allow dogs.  Riley grew up with 5 and 9 year old boys and a cat.  He demonstrated patience, kindness, gentleness and LOVE to the kids.  Riley has been a house dog, and has great house manners and positive behaviors that show how well he was loved and cared for by his first family.
What I love about Riley:  He has an extremely happy-go-lucky, easy going, positive attitude.  His first response to just about everything new in his life is a GReat big, Golden SMILE!  He likes to do whatever you are doing.  Going for a walk? LOVES it and is fantastic on the flat martingale collar.  Being a couch potato?  No problem, he will be perfectly content to just hang out with you.  He sleeps quietly on the floor in our bedroom.  Riley would probably LOVE to sleep on the bed, but respects not being allowed on the bed or on the furniture.  No accidents in the house.  He is a jokester who loves to play and make up games to play with you.  LOVES riding in the car, lies down and rides quietly in the backseat, waits patiently to have his leash put on when getting out.  First family says he loves to swim. He is great on the tie out at our house.  He gets along with the cat and respects our cat's refusal to play with him, mostly ignoring her.  Has not lived with another dog for 2 years or so.  He retrieves items consistently, but then LOVES to play keep away! Once you get a hold of the toy, he gives pretty well.  Riley is very gentle getting treats, no guarding food from me or the cat.  Riley would love to go to a family that plans to include him in everything they do, and would love to have a really active life with people!

Things I am watching for with Riley:  history of running away - I have not seen him try to get off the tie out or be particularly anxious to bolt away.  Good recall on a long line. History of chewing shoes or baskets when left alone - he brought me my shoes a couple of times, no chewing, but he wanted to go for a walk and you could tell that Riley thought having my shoes was absolutely hilarious!  He seems interested in chasing cars, but comes to me and sits when a car approaches on walks.  Barks at other dogs - first family says they think he would like to play with other dogs. His posture at the vet was a bit aggressive in meeting other dogs, so he may need some more socialization to learn good play behavior. Separation anxiety - he has been fine in our bathroom overnight and when left for a brief time with no destructive behavior, barking, etc.  Not crate trained - has free run at our house when we are home.  I have very high expectations for dogs, and I think with a bit more obedience training, Riley will make some lucky adopter a fabulous furever friend and companion!
Riley was vet checked, microchipped and had his shots updated.  He is being treated for a minor ear infection (yeast) and hookworms.  Other than needing two minor treatments, Riley is in perfect health, with 66 pounds being an ideal, athletic weight for him.  Riley was neutered on June 1st, and will be ready to meet a lucky, forever family soon!
