There was a farmer had a dog and Ringo was his nam-o. R-I-N-G-O, R-I-N-G-O, R-I-N-G-O and Ringo was nam-o. OK, maybe that is not quite how the song goes, but Ringo was living at a farmstead, and the surrendering owner had to move and could not take Ringo with. That is how he came to RAGOM.

Ringo turned 1 year old on December 11th. He is a 66lb purebred Golden Retriever with a beautiful copper colored coat. He is very much still a pup. He still jumps up, plays rough, and counter surfs a little. He loves to play fetch with tennis balls and likes to tear up furry objects. He was neutered this past Thursday and he seemed to be recovered when we picked him up from the vet. No down time for this furry guy!

Ringo has been crated at night and when we are gone at work during the day. He does just fine with that. He went on a trip out of town to a funeral and slept in a hotel last night and we left him out of the crate. He did just fine, except he thought he should sleep on the bed - with his head on the pillow! We think he would be fine out of the crate at night, but our resident dog is senior boy and not interested in Ringo play, so the crate is best for him at our house.

Ringo is also interested in rabbits and other fuzzy critters outside, so we think he may be best in a home without cats. We do not have a physical fence at our house, so he spends short bouts on a tie-out and gets two long walks a day. A fenced yard may be a plus with his high energy, but not necessary. He would be fine with another dog as long as they could tolerate his puppy behaviors. He was also bad on the leash, but has come a long way with it in two weeks. He will still pull, but just needs some more training. He knows "sit" and "lay down," but not so sure on "stay" - he seems to get that command for about 3 seconds!

Ringo is very curious when it comes to the bathtub and shower. He tried to jump in the bathtub when I was in it one day, and he also jumped in the shower when Foster Dad was warming up the water! Maybe this is a sign he would like to go for a swim?!?!

Ringo has shown no food aggression, takes treats softly, doesn't care if you touch his face, ears, or mouth. He is a very sweet boy. Oh, and not to forget - Ringo had one pee accident the day he arrived (understandable). He does not have any medical issues.

That about sums up Ringo. Just a note to remind you all that he is still a very busy boy and jumps and plays rough - something to consider with small children. He is a real beauty and will make a great fur-ever companion!
