Rio was one of the puppies rescued from the Missouri animal auction. He came to us looking quite ragged and was just under eight pounds in weight. In spite of his lack of nourishment, we couldn't interest him in eating. He'd take two or three pieces of kibble and then wander off. A trip to the vet revealed that he had an eye infection, an ear infection, a bladder infection, and a gut infection. Medicines were given, and in a few days, he was chowing down with the best of them. And gaining needed weight. And growing.
Rio certainly has the Golden personality; he wants to be near his people. He also likes to snuggle (that diminished a little as he got healthier, but it didn't go away) and, surprisingly for a puppy just three months old, he always came when called.
He is a smart little guy and he quickly learned how to play with the other dogs that frequent our home. And he will play with any dogs or children that are available. He shows no fear of even the biggest dog and displays a healthy curiosity about his surroundings.
And then there is all that cute that is just dripping off him. Several of our friends said, "I'm not looking for a dog, but I'd adopt him!"
Too late; Rio has found his Forever Home and now goes by the name of Lou. His new owner is a first-time dog owner, and she has chosen a dog that we think will make an excellent first dog for her. And he will be as spoiled as any dog should be.
