Profile

Welcome to RAGOM Rosco :) This beautiful boy arrived at his temp foster home in Oakdale today! Rosco is about 70 lbs, seems to be a perfect weight for his frame, has a medium golden colored coat, with slight greying around the eyes and muzzle (cute!!). He came to us from a shelter and was found as a stray who was not claimed. During his time at the shelter they were able to track down some old vet records, so we do know that his name is Rosco, and that he is 7 1/2 years old (will be 8 in June). We know nothing else :( He is now up to date on vaccines thanks to the shelter, and tested negative for heartworm (yay!). He will be neutered and microchipped tomorrow, and then will be all set!

So far... Rosco has met the resident crew (3 GR , and a yorkie) with tail wags! I have learned he is very sweet, has a typical, loving, Golden personality :) He rode well in the car for the transporter on the way here, he was shaking a little bit when he first came into the house... I can imagine this is all very overwhelming for the poor boy. He has since settled in for a nap at my feet :) He is tethered to me for now, as he did lift his leg to mark the coffee table (did someone say neuter tomorrow?!) he responded immediately to my "No" and we went outside and he hasn't had an issue since. (Good boy!) But, we'll keep him nice and close for the night just in case he gets any other ideas :) He responds to the "sit" command and came when he was called back to me from the corner of our fenced in backyard. All in all, he seems to be a very nice older gentleman that will melt your heart and be your best buddy!

I will keep learning all I can about Rosco and report back in the days to come. Think good thoughts for him tomorrow for his surgery!

Such VERY tragic news about Rosco! He was adopted by a couple that fell in love with him and a few days later had a 'seizure' and died suddenly! We are all so sad for Rosco and the poor adoptive family! They were so happy to find him and are SO sad to have lost him after such a short time. And after the recent loss of their other resident dog too. Likely, Rosco died from a heart attack or maybe hemangiosarcoma. We send our love and heart felt condolences to Rosco's adoptive family.

Sorry it has been a little while since the last update. Rosco has been doing great. We have been trying to take him out on walks as often as possible now that the weather is so much nicer. He LOVES that and of course we do too!! I continue to be impressed at how well he does while on walks. Even though another dog starts barking at him, he just ignores him and keeps walking. Rosco loves to play with us and his squeeky toy and ball. He is so sweet and really enjoys meeting new people.

Rosco has been with us for about 1 month now, and it’s amazing how much more comfortable he has become with us.  At first he wasn’t sure if he could trust us, and he wouldn’t really let us pet his stomach.  Now he rolls on his back and ASKS for us to pet him on his stomach. He is such a Velcro boy; he loves to cuddle and would love to be petted 24/7.  When we are home, he follows us from room to room; he always wants to be around us.  When we get home after...

Rosco is an 8-year-old purebred Golden. He is returning to RAGOM because he has had some behavior issues. He does not get along with other dogs if he feels insecure and threatened by them. The surrendering family described an incident at a dog park where Rosco and another dog where off leash and Rosco charged at the other dog. Also the family had some dragons and Rosco was growing curious about them, which was making the dragons uneasy. Roscoe had his vet visit and he is now up to date for all h...

Rosco did get adopted out in May, but for some issues with the SO's water dragons Rosco has returned to Ragom.  I fostered Rosco the first time and he was hard to let go so when I saw he was coming back to Ragom I was kind of excited at first that I could foster him again, but deep down I felt bad for him because his forever home did not work out. Rosco's first week here has been great.  He and the resident dog are getting along fine.  Rosco has only growled a few times...

Roscoe moved in with me today. He is a very affectionate fellow. He weighs 71 pounds, and seems to be in good health. He could put on a pound or two. He has been growly with my three resident dogs. I think he wants to be an only dog. He has been moved around a bit, so I think he doesn't know who to trust. Maybe he can settle down here for a while. He has a small lump that the vet checked out today. No treatment needed at this time, just something to watch in case it grows. Roscoe is very wel...
