Roxy is a spayed female golden retriever.  She turned 10 on October 22, 2014 but does not look her age.  Roxy has had two litters of pups, the last being two years ago.  Her family kept one male from her last litter who was a great dane-golden retriever mix.  The pup turned into a big dog and her family stated he was mean to Roxy.  Roxy started running away and her family decided it would be best to surrender her to RAGOM.

Roxy had mammory tumors which were removed at the same time she was spayed.  We are waiting for the pathology report on those tumors.  She also tested positive for lyme desease and anaplasmosis and is being treated with medication.  Roxy weighs 60 pounds 7 ounces and is at a good weight according to her vet.  Roxy has had frontline and is microchipped. Roxy settled into our home very quickly, she is very sweet and loves to get petted.  She shares our home with our 14 year old dachshound, 12 year old shitzu and 9 year old bassett hound.  At the first introduction our bassett hound did growl at her and she simply avoided him which showed me she is not aggressive.  All is well now between them.  I have a dog grooming business in our home so she gets to meet a lot of dogs and she has been very good with all of them.  At her previous owners home she slept in the garage and I'm unsure if she was allowed on furniture.  It took her five days at our home to jump on the couch when we asked her to come up.  She does not go on the furniture unless asked to.  Roxy sleeps on the floor next to the bed in her own comfortable bed.  She settles in very nicely and sleeps like an angel until morning.  She was never crated and does well with the run of the house.  When we are gone we have a baby gate blocking off the kitchen and all our dogs stay in the kitchen until we return.  She does not seem to have a problem with that.  Roxy loves to be pet, when you stop she will gently nudge your hand and ask for more.  She will give hugs when you ask her, she sits on her hind legs and gently hugs you, she does not randomly jump up on people.  Roxy loves to go in the car, we have taken her to Runnings and to Minnetonka for the RAGOM warehouse sale.  She was well behaved at both places. At the RAGOOM event she gave out hugs very freely and everyone she met loved her.   Roxy also loves walks, she walks very nicely on a leash and does not pull.  We have a four foot high chain link fence and Roxy has never tried to jump it.  She has never tried to run away from here.  Roxy likes treats and will gently take them from you hand.  If she drops crumbs she lets our dog eat it with no problem.  We feed Roxy in a differant room away from our dogs simply because our bassett hound is food aggresive.  If you are looking for a laid back, sweet and loving dog please consider Roxy for adoption.  Roxy is currently unavailable for adoption pending pathology report.
