2/26/06: Ruby is a sweet little 4 month old Golden girl. She has become a world traveler in her short 4 months. She was born in South Dakota & then sold to a company that sells dogs to pet stores. She was then shipped off to Indiana & Ohio. When she was not bought it was discovered that she has bilateral juvenile cataracts so was returned to the original owner back in South Dakota. Wanting to give her a good home they contacted RAGOM & she made the long trip to Minnesota where she was welcomed into our home, puppy kisses, puppy breath & all.
As far as Ruby's cataracts are concerned, the future is a big unknown. Sometimes with juvenile cataracts they can resolve themselves, but in the process may leak fluid which then in turn can cause glaucoma. If they don't resolve then they will inevitably progress on their own, which could take months to years. Depending on the progression, surgery may be an option in the future, otherwise Ruby will more than likely become blind. At this point she has no impairment & is quite an active little girl.
Ruby weighs in at 20 lbs of sweetness. She of course gets along great with my 3 Goldens, and especially likes to play with Lady, my 3 year old female. Ruby also gets along great with my 3 kids, ages 3, 9 & 12. Playing chase & tug are favorite pastimes. Ruby sleeps quietly in a kennel next to our bed at night & is also kenneled while we are gone as she is not quite trustworthy in the potty training department. Potty training is a work in progress & I have noticed that she does better if you take her outside to an area that is grassy rather than snowy. I guess she is particular about where she wants to go.
If you are an approved applicant & are interested in this sweet girl contact [email protected]. I'm sure she won't be with us for long.
