Sally is an approx 7 year old female pure bred golden.  She is a former puppy mill mom but you wouldn't know it other than the tattoo on her belly.  Sally is up to date on shots and heartworm free.  The vet believes she is spayed although he cannot find a scar to say for sure, so we are keeping an eye on this!  She gets a long well with our three resident dogs for the most part.  Our female has some issues with Sally because Sally likes to growl when she plays.  She is a very vocal girl all around.  She is starved for attention and follows us from room to room.  Sally does have an old injury to one back knee that was never corrected and has resulted in her walking with that knee turned out.  It does cause her some discomfort as she does not stand for too long, including during meal time.  She prefers to lay down and eat her dinner.  At this point the vet doesn't believe anything can be done to "fix" the old injury and medication is an option if it begins to bother her more.  She does have some trouble getting up and down and prefers soft places to lay.  She sleeps in our bedroom next to the bed on a dog bed and other then tail thumping on the wall when its time to get up and go outside we don't hear a peep out of her.  She also some allergies and does a lot of chewing on her feet.  She is a very happy girl despite her knee and allergy issues.  She is housebroken.  Some things Sally will need in a home are:

  • A fenced yard or someone willing to keep her on a tie out.  While she loves us dearly she has no recall when it comes to critters she can see.  She doesn't get around perfectly but boy does she take off when she sees something she wants!
  • A home with very few steps  ans soft surfaces for her lay on.
  • Another dog would be great for her as she loves playing and has always been with another dog.
  • While she can go when she wants to, Sally will not make a good running partner.  She does enjoy a slow, short walk.
  • Someone who will keep Sally away from not neutered male dogs as to this point we are not able to confirm she has been spayed.  No more puppies for this sweet girl!
  • She is OK with cats.  Prefers they not be in face, and will growl to tell them she has had enough.  We have 5 who are very dog savvy and have had no issues as they take her growl as a sign to go away.

That's all for now!  Will update on how she is with children in a few weeks when we have visitors!!
