Scout is a beautiful 9 week old pure-bred female puppy, we have AKC papers for her - but who cares anyway. She weighs in at 16 lbs. Scout loves to run and play with the other dogs in the house, but she usually just gets in the way and then gets run over. She has met two cats at her new foster home, she starts out barking at them and when she gets close, she licks them in the nose. She has one of the sweetest personalities we have seen in a puppy.
We are working on house training right now, only a few accidents. We took a trip to the Vet today - Scout has an ear infection and puppy strangles. She was treated for a food related allergy - a mis-diagnosis. She has a non-contagious, non-life threatening condition called canine puppy strangles - a form of cellulitis. For some reason, possibly a bacterial infection or the body's immune system responding to an infection, she experienced swelling and redness of her face. This progressed to hair loss and some skin damage as well as some swelling around the eyes. Scout is now being treated with antibiotics, skin cream, and a healthy diet. We are optimistic that her hair will grow back and she will once again LOOK like the adorable puppy that she is.
