Scout is a little female yellow lab mix between 8 and 12 weeks old weighing in at a whole 9 lbs (she's just a little thing)! She and her other litter mates were abandoned in a shed in Iowa. They made their journey North last Tuesday, and she's been with us (me, my husband, our two resident dogs, and our cat) since then (almost a week).

Scout is doing very well with her crate and potty training, and is warming up to people and other dogs very quickly (she was a little timid at first, but understandably so). On her first visit to the vet last week she was diagnosed with a very bad case or worms, but has received medicine and is recovering from that. Besides that, she's in perfect health.

Scout loves to play with my two dogs all the time--they get sick of it after a while. She has met the neighbor dog Molly, and had her first play date with Miley (a 12 week old chocolate lab who is twice her size), and she gets along with everyone and plays really well. At night, she's more comfortable sleeping around people or other animals. We gave up having her sleep in a kennel, but she does fine in the crate during the day for extended periods of time. She'll make it 6-7 hours overnight without needing to go outside, and we had one 4:30 hour crate session that she made it through today without any accidents. She whines at the back door when she has to go, and has learned that when we put her outside, she can come back in as soon as she goes potty--so she's doing great!
