Please welcome Shimmery to the RAGOM family! Shimmery is a GORGEOUS 10-month-old female purebred Golden Retriever. This sweet and playful pup was surrendered to RAGOM due to a very sad family separation. It is clear that she was very much loved, adored, and cared for because she is the sweetest, most cuddly 10-month-old!

Shimmery (or Shim-Shim, Shimmy, or Shim as her former family fondly called her) is a big, goofy ball of love. She came from a family with kids and is great with other dogs. She lived with another Golden Retriever and a Dachshund and now lives with our 2-year-old resident, Etta. They get along great and love to romp around and wrestle with each other, although Shimmery does play kind of rough and sometimes she doesn't know her own size and strength. Because of this, we think that she'd do best in a family without infants or really small children.

Shimmery has no aggressions or anxieties. She does not resource guard anything from people; she doesn't counter-surf; she respects baby gates and is house-trained and crate-trained. She's never had an accident in our house, which is awesome for a 10-month-old after a big transition. She's a very polite houseguest, as we've never heard her bark and she has never been destructive. She does show signs of a prey drive, so we haven't cat-tested her because of this. Because of her zest for life, she can easily forget her etiquette with other dogs (taking toys out of their mouth, pushing out of the way for attention, etc.), so this is worth noting if you have a headstrong dog in your home. This could possibly annoy or offend even a submissive pup, potentially resulting in a spat.

She is a big, furry goofball weighing in at 70 pounds. A big girl for a puppy that is still growing! She is a bit overweight and we've been working on getting her weight down to a more flattering 63 pounds at the recommendation of our vet. Like any puppy, Shimmery has a healthy amount of playful energy. She isn't a hyper or high-energy dog by any means, but will definitely need a forever home that will be committed to giving lots of exercise and working with her on the typical puppy behaviors - mouthing, pulling, and occasional jumping. It would be great if her forever family loved to be active and go for walks, bike rides, or runs! She also adores water and swimming, and loves to retrieve sticks... So she would be a fun addition to your family vacations!

Shimmery is a very strong girl. She definitely pulls on a leash, but we have introduced her to the miracle that is the Gentle Leader, and the transformation has been truly unbelievable. It took a few days of getting used to (she was very silly... rubbing her nose on every car we walked by, dolphin diving on the ground, and bucking like a bronco), but a few walks and lots of laughs later, Shimmery now walks peacefully and politely alongside of us as long as she has her Gentle Leader on. She LOVES her walks and they have really helped her to be the best dog that she can be.

Shimmery is a VERY smart girl and has great recall... We've been tethering her to us and working on obedience and manners. She is just SO excited to please and make you proud. It's adorable. She will definitely need a family committed to this as well. She would probably really love a puppy class, and especially the drive to and from... She LOVES car rides!

One of our favorite things about Shimmy is that she talks. It's the most adorable thing ever. She sounds like Chewbacca and says "Woooooo" or "Arrroooooo" when she gets really playful or if you look at her the right way.

When it's not playtime, she can be found laying sprawled out on our couch, on her back, with arms outstretched like Superman, lapping up the Golden Life. She is 100% lapdog... All 70 pounds of her.

Shimmery is SO excited to meet you, so if you think this 10-month-old sweetheart sounds like she might be a good fit for your family, please contact your Placement Advisor!
