Welcome Simba to the RAGOM family! He is a Golden Retriever, approximately 7 years old. Simba came in as a bonded pair with Cali 14-163 .

How did these cuties end up in RAGOM's care? The original owners dropped off the pair at a Good Samaritan's home, thinking they were going to dog sit for a couple of days. Well, the owners never came back for them. When the good samaritan got ahold of the owner, she was told that they don't want the dogs anymore. One thing we know about their prior life is that they lived their life under an unenclosed porch. Simba and Cali were very lucky to be in the Good Samaritan's care until a foster was found.

Simba is a friendly dog. He met the 2 residents dogs, all with a wagging tail. His smile is just too funny! When I come home from a workday, he is just so excited with wags, whines, and smiles. And his smile consists of scrunching his nose and showing all of his teeth. At our house, he likes to lay in the living room with the 2 resident dogs. Simba does fine with the cats here; he completely ignores them.

At his wellness exam, he weighed in at 102 lbs. Simba did have an ear infection and was treated for it. Right now, I am checking his ears every other day, doing regular cleanings to keep them clean. Parasites were also found in his stool. He already had 1 treatment of dewormer and in a week, will have another dose of dewormer. Simba has been brought up to date with his vaccinations and tested negative for heartworm.

Simba is one of those Golden Retrievers that likes to have things in his mouth, but is never destructive with them. Most of the time, it's a toy, but he did get ahold of a gardening glove and loved walking around with his prize that he found. We have taken Simba and Cali out for walks around the neighborhood. At first, when they see the leashes, they will run away. So, my trick is to get them in the fenced-in backyard and leash them out there. Simba walks nicely on the martingale collar. Once we get going on the walk, he seems to really enjoy it and keeps up with the resident dogs.

You would think having 4 dogs in the house might be chaotic (2 foster dogs + 2 resident dogs), but Simba and Cali have been super fun and easy to have around. We are enjoying their company as they are very well-behaved.

Their new life began with the Good Samaritan and will continue now as RAGOM dogs.
