6/27/06: It is with great pleasure I am able to say that Ms. Sydney (AKA - Pumpkin - per her first foster mom) has finally made it to MN. It has been a VERY long haul for this pup along with her brothers and sisters. Sydney originally comes from Mississippi, however along the way one of her siblings became very ill and had to stop in Missouri to wait out a Parvo incubation period. With the incubation period and scare being over, the puppies were given their travel certificates and hit the road very early this morning and arrived in our great city of Apple Valley 12 hours later.

Ms. Sydney is one of the two Golden looking pups in the group. Sydney is close to 20 pounds at 3.5 months. She is a beautiful white with golden blotches. I have been told her mom is a Border Collie mix and dad was a Lab/Golden Retriever.

This is what her first foster mom had to say about her: Sydney is a big puppy, but she's a little shy and she likes to have a little place where she can run and be safe. I don't really understand what her thinking is, but quite frequently, when I go to pick her up, she'll tear into the bedroom and hide under the bed, tail wagging the whole time. She doesn't get very far under the bed so her little tail is still sticking out, wagging like crazy. This under-the-bed thing is probably a game, but when she's concerned - for example, when all the big dogs are barking at something - she likes to wedge into a dark place and peek out.

The main thing about Sydney is that she loves to swim. Sydney is a little bit shy except when she's swimming and then she's a champion. I only have one air conditioner vent in my living room and it's in the floor, where Sydney regularly plops herself down right on top of it. Sydney is big and I've always called her "my fat puppy," but I found out after she was wet that she's not fat at all, just fluffy. I guess she just likes AC!
