10/01/2013:

Please welcome Thunder into the RAGOM family. Thunder is a good looking, 3-year-old PB neutered male who weighs 61 pounds. He has beautiful golden eyes outlined in black, pearly white teeth, and a black beauty mark on his tongue. He has been the perfect house guest for the last week. When I picked him up, he had a gash on his left elbow with a flap of skin hanging down. Since he came in on Saturday, I had to bring him to the Emergency Vet for stitches. He didn’t mind wearing the cone around his head and would sit patiently while I put it on him. He was microchipped, brought up to date on his shots, and had Heartguard and flea/tick medication when he had his wellness check done. Two days after he was given his Heartguard medication, tapeworms showed up in his stool, so he was given medication for that. The Vet said he probably caught and ate a rabbit since he was allowed to run free at his home. He will get the stitches removed on Monday and will be ready for his forever home.

Thunder was surrendered because he bit his owner out of fear. He was playing with his two-legged sisters in the yard when he accidently knocked one of them over. The SO yelled at Thunder and tried to grab him, so Thunder ran into the house and hid under the bed. When the SO pulled him out by his back legs, Thunder turned and bit his hand. His wife ran a day care in their home, so they couldn’t let Thunder near the kids anymore. Whenever Thunder hears neighborhood kids outside of my house, his ears perk up and he sits by the door watching them. He misses being by children and wants to play with them! I took him to see my grandsons and his butt wiggled with excitement! He did just fine with them. The SO said Thunder didn’t like little dogs or puppies. When he saw my friend’s small dog, Thunder barked continuously and struggled to get at him, but we kept him away. I don’t think he would do well in a home with cats or any little animals. He gets along great with other dogs and had been an only dog, so he will fit into a home with other dogs or as an only dog. He had never been on a leash before, so we are getting him used to that. When I get the leash out now, he runs over to the door and sits so I can put it on him because he knows it means going for a walk or car ride. Thunder has good recall so will not need a fenced-in yard. He is a quick learner and just wants to please!

Thunder is such a sweetheart and will be a great addition to someone’s family! I will send in another update after I learn more about him, but if you would like to meet him, please let your placement advisor know.
