Profile

Hi there RAGOM friends! This handsome boy is Winsor. Winsor is a 3 year old male, weighing 73 pounds. This boy is definitely a Golden Retriever! He is mellow, easy going and very smart. He is affectionate and LOVES being petted. What Golden doesn’t, right? Winsor will gently nudge under your arm if he feels that you haven’t petted him enough! His favorite thing, no surprise here, tennis balls. He loves to run around the yard and retrieve balls. He is pretty good about bringing them back and giving them up, so they can be thrown again. We got him a tennis ball that is shaped like a bone and he carries it all around the house. It is really cute.

We have resident dogs here and Winsor gets along just fine with them. But, he seems to want to hang around the humans more than the fur gang. We also have a cat and Winsor has no interest in him. He did live with cats prior to being surrendered. Winsor is very gentle and is good with our kids ages 2 and 5. He has been a very good house guest and has not gotten into any trouble. He doesn't chew on anything inappropriate and he does not counter surf. Winsor sleeps on the floor in our room at night. Although, I am sure he would rather sleep in the bed! Sorry Winsor boy. There is already a Great Dane in the bed and between you and me, that is already one dog too many in the bed. hehe. Winsor is also in our room during the day while we are gone. He had free roam of the house at his old place and I think he would do just fine if left out when no one is home.

So, you are probably thinking..."this dog sounds great. Why was he given up?" Well, Winsor has allergies. He has itchy, flaky skin. We believe that most dogs have allergies as a result of the food that they eat. We changed Winsor's food to a more natural diet. Already, after only a week, he hardly has any flakes. He is also getting a fatty acid dietary supplement or basically fish oil. The Vet. says he can also take Benadryl if he gets itchy. But, we haven’t see him scratch at all since he has been here, so we haven't given him any. We are going to take him back to the Vet. tomorrow to get his Thyroid tested, but the Vet. is pretty sure that it is only allergies. Winsor does great at the Vet. with one exception. He gets a little growly when they try to take his temp., so he would have to wear a muzzle for that. But, I certainly don’t blame the guy. You know where they take the temp. right?!!

If you have a lot of love to give and a lot of tennis balls to retrieve then this is your guy. Please contact [email protected] if you want to meet Winsor. He has been to a couple different homes in his short three years and he is ready to settle down in one place. He is looking for a forever family. Are you it? Come meet him and find out.
